Find Your Partner for the Tennis Trade Ralph Asciak Rainbow Mixed Doubles Tournament

The Tennis Trade Ralph Asciak Rainbow Mixed Doubles Tournament 2026 returns this September, giving players the chance to enjoy three weeks of evening tennis in a social but competitive format.

The tournament is built around one simple idea: choose your mixed doubles partner, make sure you are both of the same playing level, and take your place in the draw.

A Different Kind of Tournament

Unlike team events, there are no captains and no team selection process.

Players apply directly as a mixed doubles pair, with both partners required to be of the same standard. This creates balanced matches from the start and keeps the focus on the partnership on court.

The tournament will be played on a round-robin basis across five groups, with prizes awarded to the first- and second-placed pairs in each group.

Evening Tennis Across Three Weeks

Matches will be scheduled on selected dates between 14 September and 1 October, with playing times at either 7:00pm or 8:30pm.

Players will normally compete once or twice per week across four scheduled dates.

The tournament dates are:

14, 15, 16 and 17 September 2026

21, 22, 23 and 24 September 2026

28, 29 and 30 September 2026

1 October 2026

Backup dates for encounters postponed by rain are 5, 6, 7 and 8 October 2026.

No matches will be scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.

Who Can Take Part?

The tournament is open to:

  • Paid-up Marsa Sports Club Tennis & Padel Section members
  • Juniors aged 14+ by the start of the tournament

The entry fee is €15 per player, with court lighting included.

Match Format

Matches will be played over two sets, with a tie-break at 6–6.

If the match reaches one set all, a super tie-break to 10 points will decide the result.

At the second deuce, a deciding point will be played, with men serving to men and women serving to women.

The points system will reward both straight-set wins and closely contested matches:

  • A 2–0 win earns 3 points
  • A 2–1 win earns 2 points
  • The losing pair in a 2–1 match earns 1 point

Registration

Players must enter with a selected mixed doubles partner of the same playing level.

Applications close on Sunday 30 August 2026.

Registration is available online, or applications may be submitted at the Marsa Sports Club Reception.
