If you’re looking for an organised, social afternoon of tennis with plenty of matchplay, the BigMat Afternoon American Tournament is one to add to your calendar — especially as it’s being held on a public holiday, making it easier for more players to join in.
Taking place at Marsa Sports Club on Thursday 19 March 2026, this event is built around the American-format style of play — meaning you’ll get a good variety of partners and opponents across the afternoon, with matches moving along at a lively pace.
American tournaments are ideal for players who want match experience without the stop-start feel of a traditional knockout draw.
You’ll play a series of mixed doubles rounds, and each game counts towards your overall tally. It’s a great format if you enjoy doubles, want to meet more players, and prefer a tournament that feels structured while still keeping things light and social.
To help ensure enjoyable matches for everyone, players will be placed into two divisions based on level:
This approach keeps matchplay balanced and gives players the chance to compete within the right group.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners and runners-up in each division, based on total games won across all rounds, with vouchers kindly supplied by BigMat Malta.

Team spirit and competitive tennis return to the courts at Marsa Sports Club with the much-anticipated Yonex Team Tournament 2025. Organised by the Tennis & Padel Section of the club, this annual event brings together tennis lovers for a fun, social yet fiercely competitive competition.
The tournament kicks off on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, and will run over several weeks with a shared Finals Day for both Men and Women on Wednesday, 18th June.
This year’s tournament is supported by Tennis Trade — the pro shop at Marsa Sports Club run by Maltese tennis legend Gordon Asciak, offering everything from rackets to shoes and accessories.

The Cisk 0.0 Clay Court Team Tournament 2025 is now accepting applications. This exciting event, played exclusively on the clay court at Marsa Sports Club, is open to Tennis & Padel Section members aged 14 and over.
Matches will take place on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 9:30 AM on the following dates:
€15 (to be paid upon application)
Sunday, 23rd March 2025
Teams play once per weekend (either Saturday or Sunday)
Each player must participate in all encounters
Encounters consist of 2 tie-break sets
